It’s me, Jolly!
Cori and I wanted to give you some tips about how to prepare and pack for camp. We know that items are starting to come in from The Camp Spot, so thought it would be a good time to do another Hello CR to help as you are packing.
Our number one tip: Keep it Simple!
Sending them to camp is such a gift, so please try to fight that urge to get all the “things” and to keep it simple. If you only remember one thing, let it be this: Keep it Simple.
Those of you who are over packers (we know you are out there!): Lay everything out…and then take half of it away. Pack that.
Clothing: Follow the packing list. If you feel the urge to overpack something, let it be bathing suits or socks.
Crazy Creek chairs: we know there are many brands out there and we generally don’t push a specific brand, but in this case, we have seen that the Crazy Creek chairs are well made and will last for all of your daughter’s camp summers. Plus, they fit in the storage bins we have specifically for them.
Uniform: A reminder that we are a uniform camp, and our uniform is plain Navy Blue and plain White, and items with the CR Logo only from The Camp Spot.
Fun Items: A Caboodle or other small container to store Jibbitz, a squishy (ONE, not a bag full!), a set of Jacks, a card game and reading light. Your daughter can bring one container. Not more!
A storage clipboard can be helpful for storing stationery, pens, etc. for letter writing.
If your daughter loves drawing or journaling, consider sending a notepad or coloring book. Just one! If she doesn’t do it at home, she isn’t going to at camp either.
Remember that we have an entire art barn filled with coloring supplies, string for bracelets, and all kinds of art supplied!
Books: if your daughter enjoys reading (or has to read for school!), a few books is a great idea. We also have a camp library where she can check out books throughout the summer.
A disposable camera, fan, flashlight, music player…and extra batteries!
TWO water bottles that are dishwasher safe. Please do not send straws. Remember to label both the bottle and the lid!
A couple of stuffed animals..no more than 3.
Remember to put her name on EVERYTHING.
Pretty much everything should be packed inside of the duffels, but we understand that a favorite stuffed animal or lovey may go in her backpack on the bus/plane.
You are set! Keep it Simple.
